NEWS RELEASEFeb. 2, 2008Challenge of the Americas at PBIEC Saturday, March 8The Challenge of the Americas spectacular of teams performing dressage musical quadrilles and show jumping to benefit The Breast Cancer Research Foundation will be held in the International Arena at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center on Saturday, March 8. Among the highlights is the opening ride by Steffen Peters in a musical Tribute to America that will be under floodlights on the all-weather footing. The arena can accommodate thousands of spectators in stadium-style flip-up seats as well as viewing from the International Club where the dinner catered by the Equestrian Club Tavern on the Green and dancing will be held. The Challenge, in its seventh year, is one of the most anticipated events around the CN Winter Winter Equestrian Festival presented by Zimmerman Advertising. For 2008, the squads are Purina Mills Team USA, Morgan Stanley Team International and SSG Gloves Team Can/Am. Steffen Peters will ride an 11-year-old Hanoverian gelding named Wholio, owned by Vivian Picheny of New York who is sponsoring Elizabeth Niemi in a quest to represent the United States at the World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Ky. in 2010. Peters was scheduled to be in Wellington for the Junior/Young Rider Clinic that has been staged for the past five years by Cetty Weiss to enlist some of the world's top dressage trainers to teach junior and young riders. |
