USA vs. World Winner Take All Jumping Spectacular Under Lights at WEF

WELLINGTON, Fla., Mar. 6--The U.S.A. squares off against The World in a triple header jumping spectacular in which the winning team takes the entire $50,000 prize money at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center on Saturday night, March 15.

Teams of the top 10 riders from the U.S. and the top 10 foreign riders at the CN Winter Equestrian Festival presented by Zimmerman Advertising will contest an accumulator class, a match race and a six-bar competition in the International Arena.

Scoring for the event will be similar to golf's Ryder Cup format.

An exhibition arena polo match of three chukkers will complete the in-ring activities.

A live band, jugglers, face painters and other activities are planned for an evening of entertainment for children and adults of all ages.

Each of the jumping teams, laden with international stars, will comprise 10 rider and horse combinations, eight from the International Equestrian Federation's official rider ranking list and two "wild cards" selected by the captains of each squad. The captains will be chosen by each team.

The first phase of the competition is the accumulator class in which six members of each team will ride a course with the jumps assigned points, each rider matched against the rider in the same order from the other team. The winning riders will each one point.

The match race will include all 10 riders from both teams in which a member of each team will ride mirror courses together, with each winning rider earning one point.

The final event will be a six-bar in which four riders from each team will compete against each other over a maximum of four rounds. Each winning rider will receive two points.
