NEWS RELEASEMarch 6, 2008USEF Selection Trial #4 Re-Scheduled to 8 a.m. FridayWELLINGTON, Fla., Mar. 6--The U.S. Equestrian Federation's fourth Selection Trial for the 2008 Olympic Games Show Jumping Team has been re-scheduled for Friday morning due to heavy thunderstorms at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center Thursday. The postponement of the fourth of five trials was made at a meeting of officials of the USEF and Equestrian Sport Productions, LLC, the PBIEC management company. The fourth trial has been re-scheduled for Friday at 8 a.m. The trial is embedded within the $30,000 WEF Challenge Cup. As of Thursday night, 47 horses were entered in the class, 29 of them selection trial competitors. All five trials are being held at the CN Winter Equestrian Festival presented by Zimmerman Advertising in Wellington. After the first three trials, Laura Kraut of Wellington on Cedric is atop the standings. Beezie Madden of Cazenovia, N.Y. and Authentic, McLain Ward of Brewster, N.Y. and Sapphire and Jeffery Welles, also of Brewster, and Armani have already been named to the squad of 10 horses and riders that will go to Europe where the final Olympic team will be selected. Madden and Authentic and Ward and Sapphire were members of the 2004 Olympic gold medal team, while Welles and Armani were reserves.
