Donations of Clothing, Blankets, Lifestraws for Haiti Flood Victims
Being Collected at Wellington Horse Show Grounds
WELLINGTON, Fla., Sept. 10--Donations of clothing, blankets and Lifestraws to filter unsafe water for the victims of devastating floods in Haiti are being collected at the Wellington horse show grounds.
Equestrian Sport Productions, LLC, volunteered to become a collection point after receiving reports of extensive flooding in and around Gonaives, the third largest city in Haiti. The region was drenched by weeks of torrential downpours from Tropical Storm Hanna and Hurricane Ike. The United Nations mission in Haiti estimates at least 600 people have died and the disaster is still unfolding.
Aid workers in Haiti are making arrangements to collect donations of clothing, blankets and the water cleansing Lifestraws that are available for $10 each and distribute them to the flood victims.
Donations can be made at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center, 14440 Pierson Road, Wellington, Florida 33414 between the hours of 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Donations should be left with the security guard at the Pierson Road entrance.
